Grants...? I've heard of grants, but dont know much about them. Every time I try to research about them, someone wants to sell me something. I'm pretty sure I could apply and get one, but I dont know how. I'm 19 y/o, 9 months pregnant, and for obvious reasons, unemployed. i know about education ones, but i dont need it for that.

What do you think of scholarships and grants based on race? I'm applying for college this fall and I've been applying for a bunch of scholarships and grants. Quite a few of the ones I'm finding are based on race,sexual orientation, etc. I don't know if it's just me, but I think it's highly unfair. One in particular was a grant for a First Generation college student with financial need. It was perfect except for one minor thing; you had to be hispanic to be eligible. I personlly think scholarships should be based on merit and grants should be based on financial need. I don't think certian ones should be available for black students only.
